Location and Parking


Northwest Hospital is located at 5401 Old Court Road, directly off Liberty Road (MD Route 26) and only minutes from I-695. Free parking is available in the visitors lot across the street from the hospital on Carlson Lane. The parking lot is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

To Enter the Hospital


Between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m., patients and visitors may use one of the following entrances: the Main Entrance, the Infusion and Cancer Therapy Center Entrance and the Emergency Entrance. After 8 p.m., all visitors and patients must enter the hospital through the Emergency Entrance.

Visiting Hours and Guidelines


Visiting hours and guidelines vary and may differ for each patient. The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has open visiting hours. Family and friends are encouraged to wait in a visitor lounge during the nursing shift changes at 7:45 a.m. and 7:45 p.m. Image of loby

All visitors should dress appropriately and wear shirts and shoes. Smoking is not permitted in the hospital, but there are designated smoking areas outside the hospital. Visitors from out of town may seek accommodations at one of the following nearby hotels:

Visitor Lounge Areas


Visitor lounges are located in the Main Lobby, outpatient area, Ambulatory Surgery area, Emergency Room (ER-7) and the inpatient areas on the 3rd and 4th floors.

Café


Located just off the main lobby, the newly remodeled Old Court Café features beverages, snacks and meals. The Café is open from 6:45 a.m. to 12 midnight, seven days per week. Hot meals are served at the following times:

Breakfast -- 6:45 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Lunch -- 11:15 a.m. to 2:15 p.m
Dinner -- 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Grill & Soup Station -- 8:00 p.m. to 12 midnight

Ready-made packaged salads and sandwiches are available from the refrigerated section during all open hours. In addition, vending machines are located in two areas of the hospital: near the cafeteria and near the human resources office, which is located on the ground floor of the hospital in the Administration building.

Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Services


Having your spiritual needs met is an important part of the healing process. To this end, Northwest Hospital accommodates the spiritual needs of individuals of all faiths. Requests for visits from clergy may be made with the Office of Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy Services at 410-601-9000, ext. 29680. During evenings and weekends, please ask your nurse for assistance. At a patient's request, Northwest staff can notify your church or synagogue of your hospital admission.

A non-denominational chapel is located off the main lobby and is open at all times with Bibles and devotional materials available. For Bibles, Sabbath candles or other requests, the Guest Relations department may be contacted at 410-521-2200, ext. 55547.

Gifts for Patients

A gift shop featuring clothing, jewelry, plants and other items is located on the first floor of the hospital. Visitors should check with the unit nurse before bringing gifts of food or drink to patients, particularly those on the Intensive Care Unit.
